IQOS Lounge Seating
For this project, we partnered with Seabrook Studio to explore how post-consumer waste can be transformed into a meaningful design material. The collaboration centered on a unique challenge: reimagining thousands of returned smoke-free device filters as the structural filling for a modular seating system developed for IQOS retail environments. The resulting furniture pieces combine minimalist form with a highly considered material story. At their core is recycled cellulose acetate, created by processing used filters into a durable filling that supports the overall structure and comfort of each unit. This approach not only diverts waste from landfill but demonstrates how circular design strategies can be integrated seamlessly into contemporary interiors. Each module is designed to stand alone or connect into larger configurations, reflecting the flexibility required of modern retail spaces. Clean lines, invisible joinery and a calm, architectural presence allow the material innovation to speak for itself. The IQOS Modular Lounge Seating is a case study in how thoughtful design, responsible material use and cross-disciplinary collaboration can generate new possibilities for circularity — turning what was once considered disposable into something enduring.

Flexible by Design
The modules are designed for flexibility — easily reconfigured to suit different spatial needs while maintaining a calm, architectural presence. Through this approach, the project reflects imminent’s commitment to material innovation and thoughtful, future-oriented design.
